The Fall Buyers Guide catalog is in homes next week. Ryan Stiner illustrated the cover, above. If you're a graphic design buff you might recognize the debt to Saul Bass. He was an iconic American graphic designer who's probably best known for his work with film posters like these:
We're going to pick up on Saul's theme again for a catalog that comes out near Christmas. The cover will feature holiday cakes (gingerbread coffeecake, stollen, panettone and so on). We're down the road a bit in the process, near final approval. These are Ryan's two latest sketches.

Cover A!!
Cover B - like the way the line goes off the page - would be cool to continue inside.
Cover A! Cover B is a little hard to read and not as elegant looking.... and this IS the catalog around Christmas, which needs to get opened and ordered from!
I like B! I like the Bolder color fill instead of white. :)
B! xo
A
Cover A - its a bit more cohesive
Cover A by far! The dark color of the script reads easily against the white backgroun. It is also more cheerful and will not get lost in the shuffle of all the catalogues that arrive during the holiday!
Love my Zingerman's trips whenever I can make them! You're the best!

Cover A..Its brighter and easy to look at!
Cover A, but do prefer the coloring of B...
B!
cover A
Cover A is the "hands down" best! First, Zingerman's logo is displayed clearly and the type is easily read. The graphic images read well in the positive and negative space. This would make a beautiful poster and translates well for t-shirts, etc. Also, you're printing on newsprint stock so Cover A is going to print far cleaner than Cover B. Yes, I have a background in advertising/P.R. and I love Zingerman's. Still wishing for a store in Nashville, Tennessee.
Cover B -- love the esophagus effect!
Cover A looks more festive!
Cover A!
Cover A! Bring and relates more to the holidays.

A. Less colors is more green friendly.
Cover A, I always think of cakes covered in sugar and frosting when I think of Christmas. The first cover really reflects that.
I like B. It's zippier because of the background color.
I like Cover A. Very "holiday" and easy to read.
I like B too - I like bold colors!
A please.
It's almost a toss up-but I'll go with...A!
Cover B!
I like the contrast and white space of cover A. The white also gives it a cleaner feel. Cover B feels a bit more dated to me.
Tim
Definitely cover A - B looks too washed out.
i like cover B--it feels more like the homage to Bass.
Cover B!
Cover A looks more appealing in regards to food. And how do I get put on a mailing list!
Cover A just makes me jittery, but then I read the "Fall Buyer's Guide" as the Fail Buyers Guide:-) Cover B is a nice holiday red without going overboard on Xmas.
Cover A - more representative of a holiday theme.
A! Much more appealling and holiday-like.
Argh - got my covers mixed up. That should be definitely cover B - A looks too washed out.
Cover A
Gotta go with A - a lot cleaner. The white background is a nice touch & makes everything pop. Not to mention the Zing name is more prominent on this cover. Lookin' good.
Cover A, for sure!
A is predictable. I vote B.
Cover A!
Both are good. I like dark covers on my catalogs because they hide the dirty little finger marks my son leaves on them. So, I vote Cover B.
A is much more festive as is the season! Thanks for asking.
Cover A - It "feels" more like the holidays when I look at it.
B
Cover "A" got my attention!!
You've split the crowd! Print both :)
cover A-looks christmasy!!!
Cover B .... love the colors!
Because of the season,I vote A. However, I love them both!
Thanks for voting, Everybody! I like 'em both ...
uuh, guys? The Fall Buyer's Guide looks strikingly like a Concept2 rower http://www.concept2.com/us/indoorrowers/altviews/altview_d.asp?img=D_with_person.jpg
But I go for Cover B
I like B. Not only do I like it better, it also just looks more like the Saul designs than A. A doesn't look all that much different than the usual Z catalog covers (which are cool, but not what you are going for I think).
B
Cover A. Looks cleaner, crisper, and brighter like the snow in December. I don't dislike B but it seems too dark for the season.
I like the design of Cover A but don't like the white fill color. Could you use Cover B's color design (darker, bolder background color) with Cover A's simple straight-forward design??
Cover A on the front of the catalog and Cover B on the back. Some of us like to look through catalogs and magazines back to front; so it would be nice to have a neat back cover as well!
Like the images on Cover A, but the color of Cover B.
Perhaps reverse cover A's colors: white/peach line images on the rust background??
But really, you couldn't go too wrong with either choice! Muy Bien.
Looking forward to it!
First gut reaction, Cover A. But then, Cover B is more pleasing to look at.
Cover A -- B looks a little too much like it would be for the Fall season with the warm, autumn colors.
Definitely A - I like the cleaner look of it. I agree that B is too autumnal.
A yes - the food looks festive and inviting, like it is on a platter all ready to serve at a holiday event. B no - each food item looks lonely in its box.
